One child represents Miss Jenny Jones,and another child her mother. The players dance in a circle a-round them,singing the verse"We've Come to See Miss Jenny Jones" and the two children in the center sing the answer "Miss Jenny is a-washing" etc. When the mother says "Jenny is dead" the children run away in all directions crying. The first one she catches takes her place in the center of the circle and the game begins over again.
